Our boat tours are 6 people per boat and our boats are small enough to actually get you into the sea caves. The big boat tours in the Apostle Islands can be disappointing for some people because they don’t go into the caves and there are crowds of people with their cell phones out taking photos and videos. Small tours allow for a more intimate encounter with out having to deal with crowds of people. We have tandem kayaks for exploring the caves but they are only put in to use with the conditions are perfect. If you add kayaks to your order and we are unable to use them you will be refunded the $25 per person fee and we will make up for it by exploring something else i.e. secluded beaches, lighthouses, sea caves in other areas etc. The incredibly intricate Sand Island sea caves are one of the best sea cave location in the Apostle Islands and are much closer and protected than Devil’s Island. We use a motor boat to cover the open water crossing to Sand Island and land on a secluded beach to launch the kayaks. We only launch the kayaks when the conditions are appropriate and if you choose to kayak the sea caves it is a an easy 1 mile round trip paddle through sea caves and back to the beach. This tour is more likely to launch than Devil’s Island but less likely to launch than Meyers Beach.
